The YMCA: We Are More Than You Think!

     CHILD CARE

The YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee is Wisconsins largest not-for-profit provider of child care, serving over 2,000 children at 45 Milwaukee area sites.  YMCA Child Care is great value in and of itself. But we have added benefits such as a free family membership for families enrolled in full-time child care, dry-cleaning services, swim lessons and creative movement classes for children and more!

YMCA MEMBERSHIP AND PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIPS

The YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee believes in providing membership and program scholarships to all who desire to participate. The YMCAs Scholarship Program, supported in part through the contributions to the Strong Kids Campaign, provides membership and program scholarships for those in need within our available resources.

With the YMCAs sliding fee scale, the level of your scholarship is based on the size and annual income of your household. We also consider special circumstances such as medical expenses or loss of employment. Please contact the Corporate Employee Wellness Director for more information at info@ymcamke.org.
       SERVING A DIVERSE POPULATION

The YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee is, by policy and practice, an inclusive agency committed to programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. According to our membership policy: 'The YMCA will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, disability, national origin or creed.  Members and program participants with special physical and emotional needs will be accepted to the extent that the YMCA programs can properly meet those needs.' We are proud of our diversity and will continue our efforts to include people of all backgrounds in our staff, volunteer base and membership.

INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS

In addition to the more than 2,000 YMCA branches in the United States, there are YMCAs in 100 countries around the world serving an estimated 30 million people.  The YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee is active internationally, participating in the exchange of information and staff with YMCAs in Ghana, Senegal, Chile, Germany, Honduras, the Philippines and Japan.

MAKING A STRONG ORGANIZATION FROM VOLUNTEERS

The strength and stability of the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee lies in its volunteers. More than 3,000 volunteers help govern our 14 branches, assist with fund raising and give countless hours as teachers, coaches, mentors and program leaders.

YMCA leadership is strongly rooted in the community.  The Executive Board of Directors and members of the Branch Boards of Managers are all dedicated volunteers with a strong sense of responsibility for the quality of life in their communities. Working together, YMCA volunteers, financial contributors, members and professional staff determine the program direction and policies of the YMCA.

As an organization serving a diverse population, we also strive to have a diverse base of volunteers. New volunteers are always welcome at the YMCA.
