YMCA OF METROPOLITAN MILWAUKEE

Led by qualified, caring staff, the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee’s licensed Before and After School Education program is designed to be fun and educational, and align with the school day, supporting growth in literacy, math, and science. Your child will receive help with their homework, participate in games and activities and grow their creativity through a variety of projects. A healthy snack is also provided.

The Before and After School program serves school-age children, ages 4-12, in more than 30 locations throughout the metro Milwaukee area. Many programs take place in schools, providing an ideal situation for parent pickup and school day transitions.

The Y’s Before and After School Age Education program is tax-deductible and financial aid is available.

We also provide a half-day 4k Wrap Around program for students enrolled in 4-year-old kindergarten, and a School’s Out Program that provides care on half days, vacation days and snow days.

COVID-19 safety protocols

We understand that school will look a little different this year and it’s our mission to provide a fun and safe environment for your children.  Below are a list of safety procedures we will be following in our YMCA Before and After School Age Education program.

STAFF TRAINING: Our YMCA School Age staff will go through an extensive training focused on proper cleaning and sanitation procedures, protective equipment, prevention strategies and physical distancing.

DAILY SCREENING: All students and staff will be temperature-checked upon arrival.  If there is a temperature reading of 100.4 or higher, they will not be allowed into program.  Staff/Student will remain home and can return to program after they have been fever free for 72 hours without the help of a fever reducer medication.

MASKS/FACE COVERINGS:  Masks must always be worn, including during outside activities. The only exceptions are when eating, sleeping or if someone has a medical condition, mental health condition, or a disability that prevents wearing a face covering. Medical documentation may be required. (If your child is unable to wear a mask due to diagnosed health reasons, please contact the School Age Director.)

SIGNAGE: Signage will be posted throughout the program space with reminders for hand washing and social distancing.

ACTIVITIES: Activities will be modified to limit physical contact. Equipment will be cleaned between uses and/or sufficient supplies will be provided for all children to enjoy.

DROP OFF & PICK UP: Parents will receive more site-specific information in regards to drop off and pick up procedures. Parents should plan on allowing a few additional minutes so that proper procedures are being followed.

CLEANING: The YMCA School Age staff will be regularly cleaning and disinfecting the site throughout program hours. A deep clean will also be done every night after closing.

The African proverb, ‘It takes a village to raise a child’ speaks volumes to what the Y has done for me and my family. From my daughter’s development and education, to potty training and manners; the Y has been a partner in helping me raise a healthy and intelligent child. I appreciate and love my YMCA family.
